Thanks to the citizen camper outcry the USDA Forest Service has "decided" to leave both the Senior Pass and Golden Age Passport 50% discount in place.
The private consessions who, in my opinion, unfortunately have taken over many Forest Service duties as concessions had tired to pressure Forest Service officials into eliminating our senior and handicapped discounts... in OUR campgrounds.
This greedy money grab was struck down after rvers and tent campers told government officials that campgrounds would tunr into ghost towns without the discount that seniors and handicapped Americans so justly deserve.
decision leaves in place a 50 percent discount at campgrounds run by private concessions for holders of Golden Age and Golden Access Passports and Interagency Senior and Access Passes. Note that concessioners are not required to accept passes at day use sites. Seniors age 62 and older pay a one-time $10 fee for the Senior Pass. Lifetime Access Passes for people with disabilities are free.
