I was assuming it simply equalized the pressure between the two units but I'm not a hydraulics guy Will try to post some interior shots in the next few days.

I saw one once a long time ago. I looked at it briefly since I was in the area but not repairing it. It appeared to me at the time to be a form of hydraulic anti-sway.

That's what I thought and I may try to repair or replace it before I do shocks, may not need new shocks, the old girl was really well maintained.

My guess would be the same as yours Gary, maybe some type of closed loop system that you can adjust the dampening on. My old Travelcraft could use new shocks and or some type of anti sway bar set up.

sounds like  I had the right basic idea, will just have to take it off and get a hydraulics guy to look at it. Thanks for the feedback. http://www.shocks.com/shocks-struts.html had the best prices online for shocks if you are a do it yourself kind of guy but I had to find part numbers through other sources, their database didn't cover class A or trailer stuff, just up to M300 for Dodges.

if its got the solid straight axle and its an dodge, get a good look for any cracking. a friend who did truck alignment next door told me their prone to cracking. i dont know if its where the leaf meets or at the kingpins. but it was prolly 20 plus years ago when he told me. could not hurt to look or talk to someone whos familiar...
