I remember it well. We met in the offices of SpeakerLab, one of the first companies to have no space between the words . . . or not, a Seattle manufacturer of hi-fi (yes, it was called hi-fi. it was that long ago) speaker kits.
Pat, as Marketing Director, Marketing Manager or Sales Accelerator of Volume and Economic Manifest Executive (SAVEME), hired me as a writer to assist him in fanning the flames of commerce and focus on what was really a marvelous product: Do-It-Yourself Loud Speakers just when Led Zeppelin got really roaring.
After it was shown, however, that it cost more to make a speaker kit than to make a speaker, the owners of the company sold the name to the retail market and got out of manufacturing (I could be wrong about that).
Later, Pat and I went in business together with two marvelous services: 1) Medical Information Identification, which was a pre-magstripe plastic card for wallet/purse with a bit of microfilm embedded in it that contained, in really, really, really tiny text, essential medical info ie, blood type, allergies, pacemakers, etc. 2) The Small Business Alliance, a way small businesses could take advantage of volume-buying/economy-of-scale, by banding together, through a membership in TSBA, for printing, insurance, car rentals, hotel rooms, airline tickets, office supplies, etc etc,
While Pat and I did not get "wealthy" because of those efforts, they propelled us on to the successes we have today.
And I an still ashamed of the bad sandwich he got at the restaurant I took him to when he and Linda were up here in the PNW last summer and I promise I will do better.
Hey, thanks Michael. I really like that pic too. Here's a place we use to hang out in Costa Rica and drink lots of Guaro (rum). We got to watch them haul it in, put it together and turn it into one of the most unique watering holes we've been to....
Just looked at some of your pic's --love this one --saved it to a file and will send to a old friend ,who sent me a series of photos of a old 727 jet converted into a house ---overlooking a beach.
Rated the #1 beach in North America a few years ago-and its better now,I grew up fishing ,boating and windsurfing all of this area ----------posting this makes me homesick----if you can get a date -go for it -----its so secluded and pretty,Pinella...
Hi Jeff, I sent you a friendship request and private message with my email address. It can be very difficult to reskin, this little Corvette was easier than some. The Hanson was a nightmare at times. VK
