"That is steep. When I had the one on my motorhome done--it is 85 gallons--the cleaning and inside coating cost me about $600. I am not familiar enough to give any real advise on the plastic tank. "

Gas Tank again ? Need a little help..

I took my steel tank out of the beaver rv. I think its around a 100 gal. Shop said around 150.00 to clean. Then they said they had to cut open in 5 places to grind out rust. they  had it for 2 months. They called today and said it its done. The price is now 750.00. they did not put an epoxy coating in it. I think that is extreme price gauging. My question is this, I have found marine plastic tanks that should fit complete with sending unit and close to the same gallons. I know they use plastic…See More

"Norman, the problem with an aluminum take is there is no solid support for it as there is in a boat. So you have a choice, fix the steel tank, put a steel plate under the aluminum tank or use treated plywood and replace it every 4-5 years. When I…"

Now on to the gas tank..It's full of rust and crud so I sent it out to be cleaned..they said they would have to cut a few holes in top to get it cleaned out. this is a 100 gal. steel tank. I was wondering if I could replace it with a used alum. tank from a boat. They seem to be sturdy enough, and would cut down on the rust problems. I have seen a few for around 200.00 that looked like…See More
