Hi Mr. Smith. That's not a stupid question. We all had to learn it also. The good news is it's real simple. For the Black water tank just dump in a mixture of warm water and liquid dishwater soap (not too much soap, just normal) with a 1 cup of r...

Hey, thanks Michael. I really like that pic too. Here's a place we use to hang out in Costa Rica and drink lots of Guaro (rum). We got to watch them haul it in, put it together and turn it into one of the most unique watering holes we've been to....

Here's my 2 cents worth on what we do when we purchase a GoodOldRV and get it ready for the road: You can start anyplace you want. Normally, I like to make sure it's in good mechanical shape, replace a few things that always fail... about 24 mile...

I'm a full timer in my Gulfstream Conquest-with my toys(antique Harley and Jawa dirt bike -stored in the garage next to me).The Starcraft is my newest addition and where the Gulfstream will soon be parked in the driveway alongside, before the white cold stuff covers the countryside. I have one winter under my belt in snow and ice(been in southern Florida since grade school),glad the toad is 4wheel drive :).I repaired the thermostat solenoid switch and the Suburban furnace fired up after purging the air from the line ,( 3 cycles of the thermostat) I think its the first time it ever was lit---smelled like a brand new furnace---cycled and cooled down just like new ,next project is -to re-core the storage compartment door and fit new latch-and -and -and ----it never ends :):):):):):):):)

Wow!!!!! Never expected to gain so much knowledge with my joining your club! You are just like a "Porsche gurrrrue"! i wish I had more time to chat tonight but we are off to Taos, N.M. for the holidays. We hope to be back to Telluride by saturday...to ski some of the first day of down hill.
If you are wondering who "We" are.....it's my boyfriend. Yes, there is life after 55!!! So when i get going on my long list of "to do's" on the Chinook....I will let you know what I have check off the list.

Where would you go in Mexico if you had 2 full weeks at Christmas to tour down there...leaving from the 4 corners area? Would it be smarter to stay in the states? Is it safe down there? If you don't have time for my questions...I understand...you have been so helpful already!!!! Susie

Hi Guys, What fun....I think this group is a little less stuffy than the P.C.A.
So glad to be apart of your group! I hope this Chinook can swim!!! Has your group ever toured in Canyon Lands? Pretty spectacular!! Actually all of Southwest Colorado is spectacular!! Ski season starts in 4 days....great way to keep strong theighs.....and stay fit.
So where do I start on my project? What takes the most focus? Engine?
Under carriage? And what class is this gal? How fun is this!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome Pat, and I'm glad to hear you and yours are doing OK after the wreck you had. I hope you can get back into another rig and back on the road again sometime soon.
My rig was such a sweet deal that I couldn't pass it up. It was donated to a local High School adult education Auto Body Repair class I was taking a couple of years back. The instructor didn't really have room to store it and he was being threatened by the principal to have it towed to the crusher so I volunteered to "store" it at my place for a short while. Well, the instructor didn't really want it, but it was in too good of shape to just let go away to the crusher so he said it was mine since I'd stored/saved it from certain death. It took a bit of DMV exercise but I was able to get the title & registration transferred to my name and insured, so now all I have to do is get it spiffed up and running good. I know the engine needs some serious attention. The inline six is only working on five of the bores right now. Seems that running unleaded gas burned the valves in that cylinder so I'll have to replace the head at the least, but I'm leaning more towards a newer 292 big six that I've acquired. I just need to find the time to get that engine out of the truck it's in and get it apart to freshen/rebuild whatever it needs. A lot of work in front of me, but I know I've found a group that can help me through any tight spots I might encounter. Thanks again, Gary

Thanks Pat I hope to have it back on the road this spring I've got a lot of work ahead of me i just about got the camper gutted,Sorry to hear about your camper accident are you going to be able to fix it

Pat, wow, sorry to hear about your accident. As far as the weather goes out here, I actually live in Petaluma and the weather is pretty benign in the winter compared with where you are. Probably not as warm as Texas though. We are expecting some rain as this will be an El Nino year in the Pacific. The winter temps will be in the 40's to low 60's with a few 30's here and there. Bodega can get windy for sure but it is a nice little town and there is a hill that blocks some of the wind. There an not to many camp grounds around up north and if it were me I'd head south like to Morro Bay. It is another nice old fishing town but with some more to do and it will be warmer and drier. It is not quite Southern Cal but getting close. Hope this helps, and good luck with your search for an older 'C', there sure are a lot of them out there. We keep a Tyvec cover on ours and it really helps preserve the exterior when stored. Cheers, Dave.
