With the worst of the tar, rubber and goop removed, glued and screwed a 1/2 in plywood skin. Next step will be to enclose the fiberglass dome and then apply primer and rubber roof membrane.

ive heard of liquis rubber right over wood. used on houseboats. then you just touch up with dicor.

Thanks David. I am cross bracing the sidewalls across the width of the dome with 2x2s spacing them 5 inches apart then will sheet that. I haven't decided what will work best to sheet it as it will require some flexibility to  follow the contour  of the new dome cover. Then will apply primer and rubber compound. My biggest concern was ensuring it handles the snow load. I think it will be fine.

are you going to go sheet goods? that could could be rough with that fiberglass dome. if you could fill that gap at the dome and just go liquid roof, you would have a rubber roof that is 99.9% rubber. just an idea...
