Well my problem with the battery in the truck not charging has been fixed now. After having the alternator checked, the wiring all tracked and checked, it turns out the problem was the regulator. As luck would have it, when I bought this rig it came with a box of 'stuff' which looked like a lot of junk. In there was another regulator and when the guys tried it, it worked. So with the new regulator in place, I took her for a run and she did well, charging the battery. But after about 5 klm she began lugging, starving for gas. So home we went and looked at the gas filter...it was filthy, clogged up with rusty gas. On goes a new gas filter and the next step now is to have the tank cleaned out and at the same time the gas gage (which doesn't work) replaced.

Since I have about a $100.00 worth of gas in the tank, it was suggested I just keep running her till she's empty. They say it shouldn't hurt the motor, which everyone keeps telling me is extremely reliable.  One person told me there was likely water in the tank and to use this additive...but we got interrupted so I didn't get the name of it yet. I'll be going down today to finish our chat and see what he had suggested.

All in all I still feel so lucky that the issues seem to be small things...so far...lol.

Hey any suggestions or ideas are very welcomed.

Its harder and much more work to drop that gas tank with 25 gallons of gas but I would NOT recommend driving it out. That can be hard on filters and fuel pumps plus some rust may still get through where it may gunk up a carb or fuel injection system, I just wouldn't  want to take the chance on a known good engine. Sure, its work to have 5 gallon cans and pump all that gas out but either you or the shop is gonna have to do it. Once the tank is repaired or replaced Id still install another new fuel filter then and go ahead and add some Gas Line Anti Freeze (Heet is one brand) just for good measure. Is there a replacement plastic tank available?? I say that because once one has started to rust even a cleaning will not prevent future rust. Your money your choice, but those are my opinions.
