Let me thank everyone for allowing me to use this site to hopefully find an old retro RV and restore it to it's former glory.

A little about me first. I am 67 year old man retired with an itch to use some of the skills I have learned in my working career. After 20 years I retired from Hatteras Yachts. I was considered a Master Craftsman. For those that don't know what a Hatteras Yacht is google it. Back then they made yachts from 28 ft. to 100 ft. Very expensive but unique yachts. No expense was spared and if you were lucky enough to get one you have one well built yacht. I have personally have seen them tear a yacht apart because a bulkhead was 1/4" too far forward.

Having decided that a new RV is either overpriced or built terrible I have decided to find a retro and restore it to it's former glory. I keep asking the dealers "when an older RV is traded in, where do  they go to?". I always get the same answer, "we wholesale them". When asked to whom they won't tell me.

Perhaps someone could tell me or point me in the right direction to find a retro RV that would be inexpensive but enough left to restore.

I would love to blog this entire project, so wish me well, and thanks to all in advance.

The biggest resource is Craigslist Steven but you have to do the research and really buyer beware when dealing there. I bought my Travelcraft off Craigslist and feel I got a very good deal but I done a whole bunch of searching and believe me there are a lot of nut cases out there. That said there are a lot of good honest people just trying to get rid of something they cant deal with or don't have the funds or skill to fix it up. good luck with your quest.
