I got a Suburban 6gal LPG gas water heater in my Winnebago Chieftain and until someone i will not name like my son-in-law tried to turn the temp down cause daughter said it was to hot i had no troubles with this water heater for the past year that i have owned it. now  i turned off the bottle to refill it and now the water heater will not light i replaced the thermocoupler with a new one and can not get the pilot to stay light can anyone tell me what to check? it burns nice blue flame as long as i hold the button down on pilot but it soon dies out when released. HELP i need a hot SHOWER bad lol

Gonna try and help ya a little,,,, Is the thermocoupler centered on the flame? (basically if the tip of the coupler centered above the flame). And second,, did you get the correct type replacement?

I dont intend to doubt you on the coupler replacement,, But I have installed a wrong coupler thinking it was the correct one, Yes, they all look the same,, but a HVAC guy pointed out some issues with different thermocouplers. (who knew?). If your getting a flame to the coupler and it stays lit as long as you hold the button,, then that eliminates the lack of fuel to the system. On some fuel control units, the temp setting is integrated into the unit, and I have come across situations where the temp control stopped the full flow of fuel, and only allowing very little to pass thru,, hence, enough for the pilot light. If you have this type,, turn the heat setting valve back and forth, and hopefully it clears it up, and make sure the flame is burning on the tip of the thermocoupler evenly,, *(The tremocoupler has to reach a designated temp before allowing the gas valve to open to light the heater burner).

Some times I would like to thermonuclear my spell check it can drive me nuts.
