i pulled out the axle and springs because i was concerned about their condition.i wire wheeled off all the rust.the stuff looked good to me other than pitting.i primed it all with rustoleum rusty metal primer and top coated with rustoleum flat black enamel.i wire brushed the frame in the spring area and primered and painted that too.i put it back together using new grade 8 bolts and nuts.i had replaced and greased the bearings earlier..i also wire wheeled the tounge and hitch and painted them.i hated how dark the trailer is so i added a led 120 volt light where the 12 volt light was.i plan to use a 6 inch heat duct booster as a power vent to vent the trailer so i can keep the origional vent.ive let this thing sit so long the new tires i put on it dry rotted and cracked.

I admire you being cautious, Very few if any, will remove their springs and axles to clean and inspect them, and replacing the bolts was good idea, I did that to my 85 shot 5th wheel which I still have and avoided a problem of shearing a leaf support bolt, and our newer to us 92 5th wheel, I have only got one side done,, BTW, its not an easy job,, but doable.

On a lot of RV trailers,, they came with 13 inch,,, and Ive seen people upgrade to a 14,, staying with in the height aspect ration.going as high as 1 inch over.

OK, so since your trailer is close to size as ours, how did you find the right size for your tires and rims. Our neighbor gave away one crom and tire but too fat for ours. We are just looking to move soon, and or just a storage space for winter. House elected bill getting too high. Lol. And tried of free loaders. Lol.
