I was at the gas station the other night and in pulls an old Allegro motorhome. I went over and talked with the owner and found out it was a 1987. He had just picked it up in Utah and was taking it home to Mississippi. As with anything that age it had its bad points, most notably that all the windows will need to be removed and new butyl tape put on them so they will not leak. And he was braver than I would have been, the one rear tire I looked at was badly weather checked. But he felt confident they would get him home and he would put new ones on at a later time. But the exterior looked solid and clean and no dents in the aluminum skin.
He was a young man, late 20s to early 30s. It was a great time talking with him while he fueled up and to hear his plans for renovating it. The oldies are out there, but to actually run into another owner is a rarity and I wish him the best of luck and gave him the GORV website as a place to go for help and advice. Hopefully he will be joining us soon.
