Has anyone replaced their refrigerator? I have a 1985 28 ft Allegro/P-30 that needs the fridge replaced, but by measuring, it won't fit through the door frame even with the fridge doors removed. The inside of the door frame is 23-1/2 inches and the smallest dimension of the fridge is 24-1/2 inched.

I'm looking at removing the door frame. It looks like it is doable, but there are screws about every 4 inches around the frame.

Well it was cold and rainy but fun. The furnace works great after I put a new circuit board in her. Good thing because it snowed on us the last night.

In the next few weeks I've made the decision to pull the BFA 4.0 genset from the Allegro and get it into the workshop. Too many past splices to the wiring, the remote panel works half the time, now the relays are not working and the starter solenoid housing is cracked open. Too much money to get a new set, so I've sourced the parts (including the NLA relays!) and will adapt some newer ones (maybe harness, maybe the remote panel if I can't get the original "deluxe" one…

So, once I do this I'll be posting up and sharing all the info I have on this series of Allegro (1980's) gensets for the P30 rigs. Wiring diagrams, my personal copies of manuals and links for ones on-line, videos and more. I do have a blog/website and youtube channel which I'll share with all the folks as well.

It's been a big decision to do this but it needs to be done along with fixing the furnace and re-troubleshooting the Dometic fridge. Lot's to do before the trips in 2018!!!

Well after years of contemplation, I finally decided to remove the roof rack. I love the classic Allegro look, but I just couldn't keep up with the leaks anymore. From the factory, there are 44 (forty four) holes drilled through the roof for that rack. They use that dum-dum stuff under it to seal it. Over the past 30+ years, it's shrunk up and left a gap between the mounts and the roof. Worse, the leaks rotted the wood underneath so there's no solid mounting point. The constant flexing made…

The constant flexing made the gaps - and the leaks - worse. Despite having sealed it annually, it still leaked in many areas.

So I took it off and sealed all the holes with Dicor lap sealant. I honestly think it looks better without the rack, and the holes are now sealed once and for all.

I hate to cut the thing up for disposal, but I don't envision ever re-installing it. I'm on the edge of being a hoarder anyway and having a 25-foot long roof rack in the woods won't help.

The best part is while I was disassembling the rack on the ground I disturbed an underground hornet nest. The first sting got my attention, but I wasn't 100% sure what was going on. When I got stung the second time I stood up and looked around. I was eye to eye with 2 hornets on my shoulder and then noticed I was in a swarm. I got stung a 3rd time before I was able to get into the house. I think the same critter got me 3 times because it was actually in my shirt. Good times. Still hurts and itches today. They are nasty little things.
Spring check uptag:goodoldrvs.ning.com,2017-07-15:2093474:Topic:3200102017-07-15T19:57:31.501ZPhilip Wolsonovichhttps://goodoldrvs.ning.com/profile/PhilipWolsonovich
Well getting ready for this years trip. New show faucet, new shocks, changed trans. fluid and adjusted choke. The only problem I can't seem to figure out is why I keep burning up alternator belts. Any suggestions would be appreciated. All and all I think we're ready for the finger lakes.

Hi all! It's been a while since I've dropped by. I hope everyone is doing well.

I'm gearing up for the first trip out to NASCAR next weekend and have a long list of small stuff to fix before then. First is replacing the rear shocks. The left rear was snapped off at the mount up on the frame. By the looks of where it was beating the underside of the rig, it's been like that for a long time.

Luckily I was able to remove the remnants of whatever the top of the shock is supposed to slide onto. It looks like it might have been a stud, or maybe just a plain old bolt? What came out was a nut threaded onto what's left of a bolt, which was threaded into the frame mount. Does anyone know what actually should be there? Is it just a bolt? The other side appears to be just a bolt which I'm skeptical of.

I like to get some input on some electrical issues I'm having, specific to the headlights and signals. When the headlights are off, the signals work as they should (except my transmission temp light blinks when I use the turn signals but I bet I know what's causing that!!). The issue is when the headlights are on the right blinker indicator stays lit and you can't get the right turn signal to blink. Left is good.

Any insight as to what may be causing this? I have access to the fuse block so I'm going to check a couple of things. My suspicion is that something is either not wired correctly from the headlight switch back to the main fuse block or crossed on the signal circuit.

Just returned from our annual trip to the Promised Land State Park in Greene, PA. Our Allegro aka Dead Metal performed flawlessly. No drama to report this time out! This is our 3rd trip with the rig to this campground. PA does a great job with this park. Clean, modern bathrooms, paved roads and well maintained grounds. We stay at Pickerel point which is a peninsula so we have water on both sides. Great foliage this time of year. It was really windy on the way home so I got off of I-80 and…

I had noticed that the outside vent for the rear furnace was accumulating a lot of soot. While on this trip I noticed an annoying buzzing when that furnace ran. It turns out that the firebox cover had come loose. I think it was getting too much air, hence the soot.

We went with family who are new campers - this was their first trip with a newly acquired pop-up. They loved it. This is a shot of family and friends sitting outside of Dead Metal (my daughter is in the middle):
