Hello there,

I have a 1972 Winnebago Chieftain and looking for anyone who has experience in reskinning the Aluminum siding on a motorhome or trailer. Also, if there are any companies that can do this, I would appreciate their contact info. Thanks, Ken

We have a 1965 Aloha 15' trailer that we lovingly named Lulu. She is functional and in the 2 1/2 years we have had her, she has gone all over Washington state, plus Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, & Montana, but she really does need some reconstruction. I believe that some of her support structure has dry rot. I really need to take off her aluminum siding to check, but here is my problem; what happens if I damage the siding?
I am a novice at best and I have been reading a lot of blogs about how to replace the framing but they never talk about replacing damaged siding. I am terrified to start if I won't have any skin to put back on her.

I would really appreciate advice or point me in the direction of other resources for RV remodeling.

Thank you so much in advance for your help.

We are renovating/restoring a '50 Star Camper. In sealing the roof seams/windows we've learned that all the seams across the camper were put together with steel spiral nails into the aluminum panels to create the very simple (and NOT-water tight) lap seams.
We are renovating/restoring a '50 Star Camper. In sealing the roof seams/windows we've learned that all the seams across the camper were put together with steel spiral nails into the aluminum panels to create the very simple (and NOT-water tight) lap seams. There was a type of tar-impregnated fiber tape between the panels that served as a sort of butyl-tape, but it had long ago given up the ghost...... So..... after carefully removing the spiral nails, cleaning between the panels, and re-sealing with Lexel polyurethane, I screwed everything back together with #8-32 steel pan head screws, being careful to pull as much polyurethane down into the hole on the threads and under the screw head.....

My question/concern..... I really don't want to use/keep these steel screws... electrolysis, rust, plan to polish the camper.... Where can I find aluminum screws to complete this project? Should I be considering something else? What have other people used/done in similar situations?
