To the ones with superior technical knowledge, I have a few questions I was hoping someone out there might be able to help me...

Power Steering Modification/Upgrade?

To those who haven't driven this 20 ton beast, this bus (or at least MY bus) doesn't have power steering, which makes any kind of city driving nearly impossible.  Really tough.  Now I connected with a User through this site names "Lady Dove" who has my same year/model bus and hers has been retrofitted with power steering.  The only thing is she told me she bought it that way.  So my first question is...

Can a 1947 Greyhound be modified (after market?) to have power steering of any kind?

a. If so, how?

b. Where can I get the parts?

c. How complex is that modification?

d. Any idea how much it should cost?

Manual/Automatic Transmission Conversion?

Also, this 1947 Bus came with 4speed manual transmission with "on the column" shifter and a transmission withOUT synchronizers, meaning that double clutching is mandatory - a real pain in city driving too.  So, question #2...

Can this bus be modified for an automatic transmission?

a. If so, what model transmission?

b. Would that installation be a simple swap?

c. Or would it require a complicated modification and many extra/custom parts?

d. If this is easily doable, how much $ should I expect to spend minimally?

Thank you to anyone who can educate this novice

I have no idea of what it would take to do either of these projects. I did find a like for a conversion to power steering done on a 1960s pickup. He also added tilt steering, but overall it will give you an idea of the work/parts needed to do something like this. http://www.classicperform.com/tech_articles/Old-School-Power/PowerS...
