For Sale
Our wonderful refurbished 1976 vintage Airstream Argosy 24’ RV. This bomber is built on a Chevrolet C30 dually heavy duty frame with a 454 cu. in. motor and matching transmission. We just returned from our second trip Portland. Oregon (600 miles one way); we stayed there in the RV for two weeks visiting friends and relatives.

This RV has been our home for two fire evacuations and has logged many trips to the Mendocino Coast and up I-5. It can cruise at speed limit on the freeway but we usually kept it at truck limit.

The 454 Chevy motor is extremely strong and gets anywhere from 5 – 8 miles per gallon depending on mountains (used a half quart of oil coming back from Portland over Santiam Pass, 5,000’). Mileage is unknown (believed to be less than 50,000) as the speedometer does not work (it has a gps speedometer). Motor has been on synthetic for years, recently changed. Transmission has been serviced, rear end fluids changed and has new spark plugs. Aftermarket gauges. Radiator was replaced in the past. Trickle chargers on both batteries.

Improvements include the following:
New within the past five years…..
toilet
aftermarket air conditioner for the motor (the one on top works great)
custom wine barrel table top
front suspension, all shocks and air shocks in front
front brakes and brake lines
curtains throughout
flooring
upholstery
paint in and out
holding tank water pump
gray water tank valves
all tires
Brake master cylinder
both batteries

Upgraded….
refrigerator
three burner stove with oven

Need work….
The passenger side windshield has been cracked since we bought it, it does not cause visibility issues so we have not bothered replacing it – they are available. The furnace does not work, we use an electric heater. Gas guage does not work, it uses 5 – 8 gallons per hours on a 50 gallon tank. After market generator is included. It has no awning.

Amenities…
Shower and water heater work great. No water leaks, no roof leaks. Master bed is 7’6” wide and 6’6” long with a 4” memory foam pad (it is sooo comfortable). Dining table makes into a single bed (storage for table is under floor area). Master bed area can be made into a living room (see owner’s manual floor plan). Refrigerator is propane and electric (it has amazing storage and works great); Air conditioner on top works great (we were recently camping in 108 and 100 degree heat and it kept us and our dogs comfortable).

This is a great vintage RV and needs very little investment to make it excellent. It is extremely comfortable and reliable for two adults and two dogs.
