Hello folks,
Just purchased my very own Motorhome, a 1984 Shasta Class C. It has the hard mounted propane tank from 1984. I understand these aren't refillable anymore. So, I want to get a 5' extension hose and hook up my own bottle. Will this work? Stansport 5' Hose - Connects Appliance to Bulk Tank Thanks for your help!

Hi,
I've been out of the country for a while, so I don't know about new laws; but when I was in VA, I was able to drive to a propane dealer and have the onboard tank filled. Knowing that I would be leaving the country, I talked to the dealer and was able to purchase a connector with a copper tube with bulk tank fitting on one end and portable tank fitting on the other. I had occasion to use it a few months ago and after hitching it up checked how heavy the portable tank was the day after I attached it , and it was very light, so I shut off the portable tank and disconnected it . Two months later, I still have propane for my appliances. I'm assuming that the propane flowed from the tank that was out in the sun and then condensed in the onboard tank. Works good!

That will work, however, the stock propane tank is refillable as long as the valves are working, I had an '81 class A and no problem getting it filled. Ed
I guess it couldn't hurt to see if the tank can be filled before i write it off. That would be nice if I didn't have to purchase another propane tank or do away with propane all together.
I notice by the gage that the tank still has some propane in it. This would be good to do a leak test with. I will charge the system and sniff. Also I will use soapy water and look for bubbles around fittings.
