Joy and I had a thought about converting the Cabana to disc brakes on the front.  Has anyone seen anything or know of  anything related to converting a 1969 M-300 dodge chassis to disc brakes?  Thank you, Tony, Joy and Cool Paw Luke

great find,some real enthusiasts

Here is a very good step-by-step disc brake conversion on a 1968 Dodge from the Vintage Vagabond blog I've followed for quite some time.   LINK

Thanks Pat!

Hi Joy & Tony,

Sorry it took me so long to get back to the group.  I got married last weekend and finally got the wedding and man of my dreams.

My 1970 Dodge chassis, 1971 Apollo has disc brakes on the front now.  We found a 1973-1974 chassis and removed the front end.  That fit right into the original spring shackels and we only had to modify the bolts.  You will need larger rims to accomodate the brake calipers.  The only problem that I see is that brake parts are getting hard to come by for the 73-74 brake calipers and rotors.  It is really nice to be able to stop.  The Apollo would not stop at all before the disc brake conversion.

If you have any questions I will try to answer them for you. You can contact me through the group.

Sincerely,

Marty

Thank you for the info.  We were wondering about that as I had seen that the 73/4 m-3oo had disc brakes.  We may check back with you if we go/find the parts for that set up.  Sounds like what we had in mind.  Fair winds, Tony, Joy and Cool Paw Luke

Before you think about converting jack up your frohnt wheels and give them a spin, then go try that on a disc brake front end. In these days of $4.00 gas, why would you want the added drag of disc brakes? The only time drum brakes won't stop better than discs is after you drive through water deep enough to get into the drums. Are you off roading with your RV? Think about it!!

I also want to convert the front brakes on my Glastron to disc. I have the same chassis and I suspect lots of other people have or will have the same desire. I am sure there is a way to do it, we just need to fing the right person with the know how. Let me know if you persue this and I will do the same. Thanks, Gary
