"I DO HAVE A GENERATOR BUT TE MOTOR HAS A HOLE IN THE PISTON AND CANN'T FIND ANY INFO ON IT."
If its an Onan, you can go to your nearest Cummins Dealer with the model number of the engine. You'll be surprised at what is still available, but you might pay a premium. Dad and I just ordered pistons, rings and rods for an older Onan, parts came in the next day. The data stamp on the pistons were 2006, so we know they were at least still making some older parts not too long ago.
My Winnabago Brave is a 1979 and the power I have from the post outside is 110. I use it for everything a person uses 110 for. My youngest son is and electrician and he says this is fine, so that's what I use. I plug in everything into the plugins and they work. I use power strips, though, that will trip if anything goes wrong.
Ellen, yes your youngest son is correct. If you plug your typical 30 amp shore power cord into the RV parks outlet that is 120 VAC same as in your residential home that's used for typical 120 VAC lighting, tools and appliances. However, when there is no shore power available like if you're dry camping out in the boonies but still want occasional 120 VAC, it can be obtained using an Inverter that takes the 12 VDC battery power and changes it over to 120 VAC or else a Generator which produces 120 VAC.
