My favorite place to camp in Colorado especially if you have children is  Spruce Lake RV Park in Estes Park Colorado.  Every camp spot is nice and wooded with a fire pit, and picnic table, they have hot showers, swimming pool, hot tub (outdoor) putt putt golf, activities, stocked fishing pond,Thompson River, hiking trails near by, town is near by too for the shopping.  It is a hoot!  Check them out! http://www.essentialcoloradorv.com/spruce-lake/  We have been there several times, and each time just feel so welcomed like family.  I have 20 years experience working in a 5 star ski resort, and didn't even get that kind of feeling or customer service as we did here camping.

Hello Lora

Is the Spruce Lake RV Park in Estes Park in Colorado vintage trailer friendly?.....
I've just started a list of parks that anyone can add campgrounds to and others can then leave comments for.....Unfortunately there are many campgrounds that perfer your camper or RV be of the newer type so I though a list like this might be helpful.
If you or any of members that own a vintage rig and have favorite campground that they want to share on the ' Favorite Vintage Trailer Friendly Campground list' I would find that to be most wonderful and would be appreciative.

......thanks Ron

You know I never asked..................but no one complained or anything when we used our 77 Itasca motor home. That is a great question, I will have to ask them! Thanks!

i found alot of the parks in estes park werent very older rv friendly.i wanted to camp in the dead of winter and was turned away by 3 places. so back down the mountain to the friendly wal mart for the night.i couldnt understand how places that were empty in winter wouldnt accept my money,

Tell ya what, I have NO problem with places that wont allow my older RV, because those are places I wouldnt want to stay in anyway with snobby owners and snobby customers, THEY CAN KISS MY GRITS and furthermore, I'm glad they are concentrated there versus bothering me where I choose to camp SO THERE LOL

I like this Kiss My Grits (KMG) attitude. It is a philosophy, a way of life. This would be an excellent Blog title for John T as we follow his travels.. The Kiss My Grits blog by John T

Pat, I picked that up off an old TV Show years back, something like Mama's Place ?? It conveys the attitude without being too raunchy for semi polite conversation.

That "attitude" and lifestyle isnt practiced by all, but it brings such inner peace and freedom and its like removing a millstone off your neck, yet still not intending to offend or harm anyone else. That attitude and lifestyle is sort of based on the famous Serenity Prayer: "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference." While still being respectful and considerate to others, you do whats best for you and your family and if others disapprove, thats their issue and problem NOT YOUR OWN. You can ONLY control yourself NOT others so do whats right and LET IT GO if others dont agree, they can "kiss my grits"

Just 26 more days till we head to Florida wooooooo hooooooooo

hey john i remember that show it was mels diner and the waitress that said it was  flo   i love it

Hi, Larry, do you remember what parks turned you down? I want to make sure to avoid them because I don't think anyone should be turned down how appreciates the finer vintage RVs. That's just not right. I love Estes and plan to camp there all the time but not at the places you talked about.

Jen

Hi, Ron,

I had no idea there were campgrounds that didn't like allowing a vintage RV. Isn't that sort of discrimination of some kind? You would think any campground would welcome anyone wanting to stay at their location but I totally agree with John T's comment below!

I think you have a great idea of starting the list. I will keep this in mind whenever I go camping and submit the campgrounds to you.

There are some beautiful views outside of Telluride. There are a few good sites right up the road for Big Rvs, we don't always plug in and have such a tiny camper that we can usually find more rustic spots up that way, as well.
