A weird title but on my ancient 1970(which I guess makes me ancient as well) project, the amount of putty used is just becoming astonishing. Haven't weighed it but it's got to be up in the 20+ pound amount so far.

A single tube of liquid nails or the like would have covered it these days..

I have to get the old putty(or whatever it is on the roof) down to bare aluminium, I looked at all the How To's, didn't see anything.

I have a cadre of chemicals out back, MEK, Acetone, goo gone..

Any proven suggestions on how to remove baked, dried and the still gooey internals of the heavy gobs of something up there used to waterproof without too much abrasion(or sweat ;)) or making a larger gooey mess?

I scraped my 1959 boles aero with hand tool. A few spots I gently used a hair dryer (a make do heat gun). Looks like you have most of it off.
