Okay, heres the deal. I winter in Florida in a few out of the way places and needed a SERIOUS Wi Fi range extender antenna. I tried the small internal USB adapters (like the one you have pictured) even those with a short antenna BUT none of those got the reception or had the power needed in weak signal areas. So then I got serious and bought one of those external Wi Fi antenna adapter amplifiers AND IT REALLY BRINGS IN THE SIGNAL where the small wimpy internal ones simply can not. I use an active (amplifier) USB extension cable and hang the antenna outside (its small PVC drops into a bigger PVC on camper side) once I'm parked and then rotate it around for the best (has to be unsecured or I have password) signal and Im off to the races. Theres all sorts of free unsecured signals like at McDonalds or some Rest Stops and of course most campgrounds nowadays, its just that this serious external amplifier antenna yields a super strong signal compared to the small inside cheapies. Heres the one Im using....
