I just installed a 10 gallon water and gray water tank in a 1965 Roadrunner. There are no vents in this unit. Any easy tricks to venting gray tank through 1/2 inch connection. In and out are 1&1/2 abs.

Good morning, Hans;
I have been wondering about your project. Is this a two compartment combination fresh water and grey water tank for a small camping trailer? How do you get the fresh water out of that part? Where is the "1/2 inch connection" you mentioned and what does it look like? How is the upper end of the 1.5 inch diameter fill pipe secured and closed off? Is it truly sealed at the outside end? Is it possible that there may be enough air flow through the end of the fill pipe to provide the venting for your small tank?
The outside end of the fresh water tank fill pipe on mine is closed off with just a foam pad on the inside of the door that protects the outside end of the fill pipe and keeps things from being put into the fresh water tank. I have not seen anything that looks like a dedicated vent tube for the fresh water tank on mine. It seems that the closing of the outer door and the thin foam pad inside the door is all there is for a vent on my fresh water tank.
For the "grey water tank," I am not sure. Is it possible that they intended that just opening the drain valve that is plumbed in at the outside end of the 1.5 inch diameter ABS plastic tubing for the drain function is all they think is necessary, and the open sink drain in the sink will provide enough air flow through the "P" trap to allow the grey water to flow out freely when dumping the grey water tank? Do they ask you to run a little water in the sink after draining the grey water tank to refill the "P" trap?
Enjoy;

I installed two 10 gallon tanks. One fresh and one gray. No black but bought a porta potti for it. The fresh tank has a 1&1/4 inlet with 1/2" outlet in one corner and a 1/2" outlet in an upper corner for the air vent hose.
The gray tank has 1&1/2 input and output for abs. It also has 1/2"outlets in the corners of the tank as this tank could be used for fresh or gray. I went ahead and installed a 1/2" vent line in the upper corner of the tank and looped it up under the counter 34" so it won't leak or draw water. Then drilled a hole in the floor poked out 6" under the trailer. Works fine now, it did not before the vent tube.
Also, I installed one of the new design P-traps from vintage trailer. It looks like a hot dog and only hangs down about three inches below the sink...also works great.
Hans, that sounds great.
You have the tanks installed, completely, and everything is working the way that you want them to. It cannot be much better than that. And it is starting to warm up again, and soon you will have chances to take your trailer out to see how it does.
Well, at least you also know that people are reading your messages. Glad that this all worked out for you.
Enjoy; Ralph, Latté Land, Washington
