I am having a tough time finding the VIN number on my sweet camper, please help.  The state I live in demands a VIN so I hope there is a Garwood owner out there! Thanks

Hello Becky Sentementes, I saw a video on the web that describe where the VIN's are placed. I used your boolean search parameter, "Location of 1959 Garwood Camper" and the video appeared with this GORVs question. You can also apply for another vin stating the original has been damaged. Your state probably has a form to fill out.

Thank you so much for this info.  Very helpful!

Hi Becky,  I looked up the forms for Maine VIN application. The form web site is,  www.maine.gov/sos/bmv/forms  and they have a number of possible options to submit the state. I think first I would use the "MVT-10" a VIN inspection form , then call the cops and have them send out a "qualified officer" to look over the 1959 Garwood on the left side where the VIN plate is at. It is somewhere behind the coupler and forward of the left rear wheel. Then have the officer complete the form. Or use a "MVT-6" assignment of a new VIN number. I actually don't see a form that has relevance to a Camper/Travel Trailer/Bumper Pull trailer. Your 1959 Garwood was manufactured in Ilkhart, Indiana, you could call the library in the town and find out if they have a folder in the historical section about the Garwood company.

Here is another link of a restoration of a 1959 Garwood.  www.repairingyesterdaystrailers.yuku.com/topic/2655/1959-Garwood#.V...

That's so funny, I did call the library/museum in Elkhart.  They sent me to the original retired librarian who gave helpful info.  So far so good! Thanks again for your help.
