Just found this site and joined and I'm excited!! I have an 89 Allegro Class A with what we used to call melamine shower stall walls- thin dense fiber board with a slick plastic coating. Quite a few small pinholes have appeared and are beginning to bubble. Anyone ever tried sanding and repainting them? Any other suggestions??
Welcome aboard Rod. I have an 87 Allegro, my shower panels are fine so I don't know if you can sand and paint them. I do have some loose spots where it is separating from the wall so I am just going to pull them out and redo them. Home Depot sells panels that I used in my house bathroom that work well.
Try sanding the walls with 220 wet or dry sandpaper then mask of the area and use a automotive gey sandable primer ( spray cans will work) let dry thoroughly then lightly wet sand the primer with 320 wet or dry sand paper then recoat with paint of your choice. Hope this helps.
