Well I am replacing my black and grey valves and y pipe underneath the holding tanks and it has turned into a chore. Everything has to line up exactly right as the two valves are hard connected with that black pipe and four screws each have to line up exactly or the valves bind. That cement dries quick on the slip joint and there is little room for error getting the valves in. My latest attempt is off by a little bit and causing the valves to bind. Grrrr

Those are a real PAIN Kevin,,, Ive used awls,, basically a real pointed screw driver, (2) of them. and Ive goobed the sealant on the fittings, and used the awls to line 2 holes across from each other,Opposite corners, to align the holes and get 2 of the bolts in. The sealant only gives you a couple minutes,(if that) to align everything before it sets in.   In one case, The sealant adhered quickly and I used the awls to wiggle the alignment to get the slides to move freely,,, giving it a slight attitude adjustment. Just be sure you didnt get any of the sealant in the slide grooves and a little bearing grease always helps.

go to home depot get 2 rubber no hubs the size of your pipes 3 inch or 4 inch which ever you need cut pipe to slip these on i did it on my moms motor home works great no leaks easy to change when the valves go bad

Sounds good DB and Lakota. I will get back down to it next weekend. Butte fire got me stressed out.
The no hub slip on worked great. Actually put the black water valve together on the work bench, then took the whole thing under the rv and hooked up the grey water valve and slid the thing on after cutting the pipe to the black water tank. Used some vasoline petroleum jelly to lube and keep gaskets in place. Now I need to get out and go fishing someplace.
