Spent today running some new wires and putting a new Battery Isolation Relay. Good news is that it works perfectly. Bad news is I discovered My old starting battery was dead. Charged it for a couple hours and tried to start her up. No go. Checked the cells with the trusty old Hydrometer and found two bad cells. Time for a new battery. Last week the battery in my 86 Dodge truck did the same thing. Same problem. Running out in the morning to get 2 Group 34 batteries, one for each and putting them in. Also going to hook up a bypass wire for the isolator relay so if the battery fails again I can start with help from the house batts. Apparently they were starting the old girl the last couple times as there was no isolation. Also found and fixed the issue with the starting relay. The relay was only seeing 8 volts from the ignition switch. Upon investigation I found a break in the wire about 6" from the relay. Cut the bad section out and added a new piece and back to working.
