This is crazy but somehow I want one...
My mind immediately went to how I might be able to make that happen with my Allegro.
My son then reminded me of how stuff flies around the inside as it is, and it became slightly less appealing.
But I still want to do it.
Well that would be a Winning Wining Winy wouldn't it.
Aw but can you imagine what the gas mileage is at 55 mph. Yeah I know there's always that has to burst the bubble.
T.J., I don't think that anyone who builds such a MH is really concerned with fuel economy. More money than brains as it were. LOL
Hahahahaha I mean just look at us old farts try to keep these old fossils on the roads. I have to look at mine as a Hot Rod and a Hobby or I'd shoot myself for the amount of money I've spent. NO I don't mean invested I do mean spent. Hehehehee.
I'm with you on this one; I spent an hour last night looking through Jeggs web site looking at engine dress up stuff and a set of long tube headers. I have a new garage that needs a floor and electrics and I've all but gutted my house for paint and carpet yet I keep meandering back to the palace and how much I like that old thing. Probably not a bad thing though. keeps me active and I like the diversion.
I got this old 21 footer with a 440 in her. I had a 21 footer with a 318 in her which was more than adequate but boy does the 440 ever run that old girl down the highway effortlessly with the same miles per gallon. Not a hole lot worked in this old girl after we got her and I spent the last couple of year tinkering around keeping stuff running. Spent a fare bit of money fiddling around with her and thought I'd get something else. How ever with the 21 footer, you can park her any ware down town. She'll fit in a hospital parking lot as well if you half to stay over. So I'm stepping up to the plate and buying at lot of new gear. Bob a Sands RV in Ohio cut us an incredible deal on a new fridge two years ago when we went to the Jimco Jam and then last year gave us a great deal on a new high end toilet. I even got a good deal on a brand new set of air bag suspension. So it looks like we'll be keeping the old girl for a while. Hey if you ever get a chance to go the the Jimco Jam in Ohio you gotta go. Plus we take a morning and go down to Sands as a group and Bob the owner cuts some pretty amazing deals.
I never had a big block Chevy before now (I did have a '70 Monte Carlo that came from the factory with a 402 big block and a Muncie 4-speed, but the big block was gone when I bought it). Even though it's installed in a motorhome, I love having one. The engine I put in it is a GM Performance crate engine of unknown origins. It has truck-spec heads but I have to say how impressed I am in how it pulls the 15,000 lb. Allegro around. And to think they put them in Vettes, too.
