Gary, you definately have a carb problem. It kind of sounds like the float in the carb is stuck in the open position allowing the electric fuel pump to pump fuel directly through. A carb overhaul would fix this as I believe the kit includes a new float and needle valve. You should be able to order a kit through most any internet RV Parts store. cummingsonan.com, nationwiderv.com, route66rv.com and camperworld.com are just a few.
Before I rebuilt the carb (may still need it) Id suspect maybe an intake valve may be sticking and not fully closing. Some of those Onans were even known to have a valve seat pop out of the head. At the carb there should be vacuum sucking air and gas in never OUT. If it is a valve problem this can be an out of the RV job and it dont sound easy or fun from what you say. If you remove the carb and get the elecrtric fuel pump disabled you can turn the engine over and see if shes sucking in as it should. I have got stuck valves working again by (if you can get access like on some flathead engines via the spark plug hole) using PB Blaster or other penetrating oils and lightly tapping them closed with a punch etc when youre sure the cams in position allowing their closure. Thats about all I can do over the net for now
John T Im on a 6 week 6 Western Natl Park RV tour and currently at the Hoover Dam,,,,,,,,its darn hot here 110 to 112 grrrrrrrrrrrr
It is possible that plug wires got switched and are 180 out. Switch plug wires and try it.
