I was just surfing around looking at some cool Hippie buses when I noticed that these hippies are pretty smart. They are making some good extra income by renting out their buses and vans to travelers. One site in particular I've never seen before seemed to be their favorite, complete with booking tools and even insurance called AIRBNB.COM https://www.airbnb.com/wishlists/glamping-vacations
I'd much rather stay in a good old rv than some Super 8. Hmmm, and our campers usually sit around about 90 percent of the time. Of course, personal safety might be an issue and local ordances might get in the way since the local gestapos can't rip off your earnings... so I'd just ignore them like always... LOL

Val, we think it's a really cool way of financing adventures and restoration projects. A glamped out vintage travel trailer or perhaps a bus conversion, or even the gypsy wagons on members builds is a very unique, and better in my opinion, place to stay. Usual safety, personal effects and up front payments, etc.
plain and simple, NO! not even a chance, unless they leave a $2,000,000 deposit of which $50,000 is non-refundable so I would have the capital to fix everything they screwed up.
Besides if I wanted to sleep in a bed someone else slept in we would travel with the van, better mileage, motels, yuck, and restaurant food all the time, gag. Any questions?
Russell, I'm with you. Unlike a motel room, in my RV I know who slept in the bed the night before and who used and cleaned the bathroom last. NO WAY Id let strangers use my bath and sleep in my bed so I would NEVER rent out my RV. In addition, I know how to use and take care of all my RV systems and don't want it abused with plumbing clogs or electrical abuses from someone who knows nothing about it. If I needed the money that bad Id sell the RV before resorting to renting it out. HOWEVER to each their own, its their RV their money their choice NOT mine to do with as they please.

Ok Im back..fun thread. Choices are good..I get that.
Yes, my friends who rent their Airstream actually welcome the somewhat easy $$ ..so that's a trade of sorts. It's definitely a subjective thing. Now that I am facing a stranger sleeping in my vintage 70s trailer for a week( an exchange student friend of our son) I am also becoming rather protective..so I get the NO side now.
I have two "toys"..and one is not for anyone but me. Thats why I did it up in yellow daisies, flowered pillows, pretty curtains, quilts, etc..Frankly, my husband almost cannot sit down in my little old Daisy..it's too feminine for him..thus the bigger newer one which will bridge the ol' neutral zone..with bamboo blinds, no frills, cool hangout 70s decor. Im all about time warp with these things. Gotta have fun..right??
I read an article a short while back about a young couple that started a camp ground where they had bought up a bunch of vintage trailers and set them up for rentals as a business venture. if I recall correctly they was looking for more trailers to expand there camp site because of the high demand. I wish I could remember where I read it at but I thought it would be a doable thing if you lived in an area close to a state park or other such venue to capitalize on the right type of clientele. I know there are a lot of rental cabin businesses and bead and breakfast around both the state parks close to me.
