I have a 73 brave, so not sure if it is the same inlet, but I had the same problem with the top 2" cap that had the high pressure release on it to protect the system on the rv. I took the pressure release valve off. Which was a bolt, spring washer and grummet. I bought a 2" galvanized pipe cap, drilled a hole in the top for the old pressure relief bolt(valve), put a lot of tephlon tape and pipe dope on the threads of the cap, cleaned the aluminum inlet with a wire brush(a battery terminal…

You might find one at an RV store or at the junkyard. My 1970 Winne has a pressurized steel tank that is filled by the water inlet.A PO installed a tee,a water hose with a female end and two shut off valves after the tank. This set up allows you to bypass the water tank and filler when hooked up to city water.
