<p>TNX for the added information. Every little bit helps as we are pretty much at the mercy of those we hand our problems over to. I was impressed with the technicians help in fixing what several before I'm failed to do; but then he said he has been working on RVs for the past 18 years. </p>

They do get rusty. And the more rust, the more tendency they have to burn in the burner tube instead of at the end of the burner. One thing is correct alignment. That orifice that feeds the main burner needs to be a straight shot so the air draws correctly through the vents in the burner. The orifice itself needs to be clean using solvent only. The old American water heater with the pinched down area in the burner after the vent needs a mod. This was approved by American back in the day. Use a…

The old American water heater with the pinched down area in the burner after the vent needs a mod. This was approved by American back in the day. Use a screwdriver clamp over the air vent to help restrict air to the burner. It should only have a slight roar, up from quiet. Just enough for the main flame to go blue. You could never choke these down enough without the clamp.
