Well we did it.  We purchased a old (not even sure what year) cabover camper with thoughts of doing some land cruising.   This old Idle-Time cabover seems to be structurally sound but will require a total re-do of the interior which should take up the next few months of our lives.  After we get her all fixed up we are looking forward to hitting the road to do some land cruising.  The past six years we have been living aboard a sailboat and cruising the oceans between the US and Mexico.  We have now found ourselves up in the SF Bay area with no intentions of cruising on the boat for the next year or two so have decided there is no better time than now to purchase a camper and do some land exploring.

We would like to try to keep our expenses to a minimum so we are thinking of doing remote camping in some of the US Forest Service lands etc.  Would love to hear from any of you more experienced people on nice places that would fit our requirement (low cost or free) around the Sierra Nevada mountains.

Best,

Jackie
