Thanks Steve I'll check the pulley on the alternator. It's newer and may have the wrong pulley. The pulley on the water pump is factory and it fits good in it but didn't think of the alternator until now. Thanks again.

<p>The cause really needs to rest with the belt itself. If it's frayed on the edges then there may be an alignment issue between the pulleys. If the belt is cracked then it may be an over tightening of the tension arm. If "teeth" are missing off the belt then it's not been tightened enough or in the case of V belts you have oil getting on the belt from a bad valve cover gasket. My bet is on a misaligned pulley. </p>

Yes. It happens over time. About 1500 miles or so. Not sure hard to see but I think the alternator pulley isn't sticking out enough.
