I started my next project, we are going to replace the carpet in our old girl and I got started tearing out the old carpet.  I am going to varnish the wood for the time being and sometime in the future we are thinking of putting a laminate floor.  Anyone have experience with laminate flooring in an RV?

We will have bare floors in the MH for a while.  We will be sealing the floor with varnish to protect the floor until we can afford new flooring.  But that carpet just had to go.  And the mess I am finding underneath it is sickening.  It is worse than the mess on the top of the carpet.  I will never put carpet back into anyplace we own.

I too am remodeling our home right now along with working on the MH.  Right now I am fixing the rotted out studs and flooring in the main bathroom.  After I have all the walls stripped out I will rewire the whole mobile home then will be putting in spray foam insulation, then the Sheetrock.  I will leave putting the shower, sinks, cabinets, etc. to the professionals as I do not have the physical ability to do that and the associated plumbing anymore.  The Mobile home currently has 4 inch walls and I am adding another 2x4 to each stud so it will have nominally 7 inch walls, that will help with the warmth of the house greatly.  Anyway, all this is to say that we will not be putting carpet in it at all.  Carpet is just inviting uncleanliness to one's home, hence we will be using linoleum, or some type of laminate if I decide to try and do it myself.

Good luck with your remodeling project and with your MH.

Thanks, I'm in the same boat with the disability thing but lucky enough to have 3 boys to handle a lot of the work. With a little backseat supervision they do some pretty nice work. Thankfully no pluming or cabinetry work but they replaced all my doors and with the help of a friend, resided the outside last fall; actually cut my electric bill in half. and your right about the carpet thing. We shampooed twice a year and still the stains and the dirt under the foam was surprising.
