Will a Digital Flat Screen TV & Existing Antenna & Booster work ok together?

Does anyone know if a new digital Flat Screen TV will work ok with my existing Roof antenna and standard type tv signal booster?

I want to get a nice little 19" flat screen with integrated HD tuner and relegate my tiny little 120volt 13" analog color to to my craigslist pile.

Some say that it is just a "plug and play" and that it will work fine. Others say that the antenna and or booster will not work with the new digital flat screens, but they can't tell me why... so far, or what to change (which i REALLY DON:T want to do) with the perfectly good existing winegard tv antenna and a good working booster.

What do you think?

Pat;

Your antenna and booster should, indeed be a "plug & play" setup, providing it is a combination VHF & UHF antenna. These are redily available if yours is not. If you need help you know where I am :-)

Yes it is compatable.

Aside from the antenna being mathmatacally incorrect, it will function. The picture you get via that antenna will be BETTER than if you had cable, BUT.....

There's always a 'but'.

You need a true UHF antenna. UHF/VHF combos have 1/2 the antenna that does not help you.
Old school UHF is the frequency that the new Digital channels come down. That means there is a mathematical equation to a correct antenna, and surprisingly they are easier than you think to make at home!

Here is a good video:

And of course, heres MY OWN mounts.
I didnt use coat hangers, I used wire rod used in suspension ceilings.
The pack of 100 was $4.60 (I have made 20 or so already!)
I also used various configurations including wood, and PVC. I like PVC the best.

On my workshop:

My first one on the camper:

This antenna, that I paid $300 for, does not get all the signals (CHANNELS) that my home-brew ones do.

These antennas, with a new television, bring in signal like you cannot imagine. HD truly is HD when it is broadcast over the air. HD loss is high via satellite, and cable.
