I'm the proud new owner of a 1973 Brave. Its been gutted and converted into a tailgating rv but I love it all the same.

My first project I want to take on is the door.  It currently only has the middle and bottom hinges but the bottom one I don't think is actually doing anything.  Also the inside of the door is splintering around the handle.  I assume from water damage.

What's the best way forward?  Do I get a whole new door and hinges, replace the current hinges or some other combination?

I've never owned an RV but I am excited about this new adventure.

WOW! Now that's what I call a paint job. The folks in Kansas must love it. In order to repair the hinges you have to remove the hole door and frame. If it is affordable and handy I'd replace the hole door. But if money is an issue then looks like you'll have to fix it. The hinges are attached to the door frame. I have to do the same thing to ours. The little hing pins are the week spot on the original doors.

This is probably a silly question but as a newbie, are all rv doors a standard size? I assume they are not.  Is it best to get a used door or go brand new?

The only silly question is the one you don't ask. No. they very in size. Not by much but they do very.

Hi Kelsey, My two cents would be to replace it if you can afford it. Doors can be repaired but some times it is more costly than to simply remove the whole door and frame an replace with new. Replacing it also affords you the opportunity to gauge the condition of the doorway and also do a good job sealing the frame to your RV. There are a few threads on here for repairing and one just a few days ago. Good luck on your project ,it looks to be a very good solid machine and that's half the battle when you want to restore  a vintage Motor home.
