I suggest that you might want to "add a discussion" for this subject somwe can answer directly. Just for clarity for others that may have the same question and are searching topics.
Unless there is an issue with the gas/propane carburator, why change?

I will probably just put in a solid state regulator (7805) which should do fine. It is a simple, cheap linear regulator with an output voltage fixed at 5 volts in a small package.

Yhanks for the info. My board looks great, the connector (tube socket?) not roo good, one pin broken. Looking at a surplus store, or may just install a completely new connector. I have no issues with electrical, have correct crimpers, etc. The service manual has good wiring diagrams. Voltage limiter can be replaced with a solid state regulator, adjustable ok, or fixed at 6 volts if that is correct voltage.

I did have the temp gauge indicator jump quickly up to the top, but it could not have been real, as it jumped up instantly. Moved back down in about 10 sec.. Maybe the sender, but more likely a connector. The wiring is OLD!

I will rework any old wiring, but there is a round connector on the dash panel that is just a little suspect.

I will use DeOxit on the connectors.

Great to see a classic Dodge forum!

I bought a 1973 Avion Cayo class C in Jan. 360 Automatic. Went to Avion campout in Elkhart Indiana in July. No issues with the 360 except vapor lock, it was HOT outside 100+ coming back. The A/C kept us cool (not cold) but no overheating. Middle of the gauge was the highest.

Thanks Matt. I will look into that. I have also read that there could be an air bubble under the sending unit since I drained and flushed the cooling system. I also noticed that the dip stick showed a little on the high side so I drained some oil to get to the halfway mark (too much oil can cause over heating by getting foam). I will be replacing the T-stat added insurance. I also plan on installing a temporary mechanical temp gauge to see exactly where I am running. Hopefully these will remedy the problem. I don't believe it is a blown head gasket or cracked head as the oil was not milky, no excessive moisture in the exhaust and/or excessive noise. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Nice to see an all inclusive Dodge Owners Group. We have a 1986 Dodge Xplorer 228 with the 360 V8. As with all vintage campers, I have been working through various issues both chassis and coach related. The latest chassis issue is engine over heating. The temp gauge spiked on a trip while running at 65 mph with the A/C on. I let it cool down and completed the trip with the windows down and heater on full.

I have since flushed the cooling system, replaced the radiator with a new aluminum radiator, new: antifreeze mix, oil & filter, air filter, trans filter & fluid, rear end flush & lube, plugs & wires, distributor rotor & cap; adjusted timing. Had a new water pump and temp sending unit installed last December. It still seems to be running hot (3/5 to 4/5 mark on the temp gauge). As I recall it used to run between the 2/5 to 3/5 mark.

I am open to any and all tips, suggestions, recommendations, etc.

I have a 1972 B300 class c I would like to sell has new tires new starting system. From starter to battery to ignition switch new ceiling.Bath ceiling needs to be finshed new locks on compartments. Runs really well has 360 ci engine transmission is in good working order. Asking $900 but will take $800.
