Tell us a little About Yourself
My parents owned an RV rental and sales business in El Paso, Texas in the late 60's and early 70's. I have been attracted to vintage travel trailers and motorhomes since. I have owned numerous RV's and have several rare motorhomes and a couple of vintage trailers now. I think my blood type is RV.

    Hello!

From my minimal browsing of the site, you seem to be the resident Glastron expert. I've owned a 1970 Glastron for about a year and a half. It's a project! In pretty good overall condition though. I'll have to post some pictures. I have big plans for it. Hopefully they can be done on a tight budget. I'd love to hear any advice you have regarding these beauties.

Here are some of my major plans:
    -composting toilet
    -solar set-up
    -new audio system
    -new AC unit
-possibly engine swap? 413? 440? Diesel? (depends if practical/affordable)
    -roof redone
    -floor redone
    -paint job
-gauges working + extra gauges if necessary
    -windows re-sealed

And of course, many other smaller things. I hope your Glastron is faring well.

    Gary,

Did you make any modification to your engine cover? To me, the way it hinges doesn't allow much room for engine work. I was thinking of using straps that semi trucks use to secure the engine cover. You know, those robber bungie strap things that use tension? I could have them secured on the floor. Would make removal of the cover easy.

Why did you choose the 360? Why not 383, 413, 440?
I love the idea of putting a fresher, bigger engine into the Glastron- but I fear that it may be out of my budget. I'm not a mechanic, so I would have to pay for 90% of that kind of work.

Happy to hear that your Glastron is being well taken care of.

    Joe
