Well, after our first one, the Scotty, we learned a lot about rot and just plain nasty. Not going to sleep in that, LOL! As soon as I figure out how, I will post a couple of pictures of the work we are doing on the '67 Ace. Randy removed the outer skins and replaced rotted frame work as he went through. The interior cabinetry framework was strong, but the paneling was old. We removed old paneling and replaced with new knotty pine ply. We have finished it with Amber Shellac. There were some rotted places in floor, which were cut out and new wood put in its place. We will put down new subfloor and new VCT file. All new electric has been run as will plumbing and propane. We also modified the closet to accommodate an a/c. We will re-insulate. Windows will be completely restored. We plan to put a new one piece sheet of aluminum for front/roof/back, but will reuse side skins. We will repaint with automotive paint. We do this ourselves... and next in line is the Yellowstone. When she's done - she'll be the cream of the crop. Has a beautiful birch interior, which we will restore after replacing bad wood.
It is great to see that these are not headed for scrap, however, what are the plans to have them actually restored?
