Yeah I'm not sure how crazy we're going to get with it. It's one of those "where do you stop?" kind of things. Trim has to come off to correct some rust issues. While the trim is off might as well paint it. And, while the trim is off might as well send it out to have the dings taken out of it an polished up. Definitely will put a beefy exhaust system on it, some rims and drop it a bit. I've seen some really clean bag installations that put the pump and air tank under the 3rd row seat. I could do very little to it, or a lot. Need to find a happy medium.

It is today's cool Jim, take some schotch bright pads and scuff it, lay down a couple coats of clear, a set of Headman long tubes and some vintage Craigers and your in the grove.

Thanks Rich. My brother had a couple of LT1 Roadmasters ('96) and my son thought they were so cool, but he wanted something more vintage. So here we are!

Great project Jim, congratulations on the buy. I love those old wagons. I was raised up with them. we had one of those old woody Mercury wagons of the 58-59 era moved up to a 63 Galaxy 9 passenger and then onto a 64-5 Galaxy country squire. Wow haven't visited those memories in quite some time Thanks for posting your project.

grandfather/father/son project s are the best, and this is a rather unique find and will be nice to preserve a classic RV or not.  Congratulations and best of luck may your time be enjoyable.

Bought this '64 Impala wagon for a grandfather/father/son project. My son will be driving in a year or so and he wanted something old. It belonged to my great-uncle who bought it new. It's a 9-passenger with a 327/300 HP and a Powerglide. Power rear window, power seat, factory air conditioning, power steering, power brakes. Not an RV, but still can't wait to dig into this new project! I need to pick it up in South Carolina (700 miles each way)....
