Yeah...after the electrical is replaced, we wanted to make it more permanent and put lips/trim up to hide joints...just love the look of your interior...very nautical with the wood !

yes.  it is luan.  smaller sections are fine long as you remember to hide the joints.   :)

But it's still the "LAUAN" product ...thin wood that is somewhat flexible...?  We put our roof in with screws to remove later for electrical repairs...however hubby also cut it into 4x4 's so that he was dealing with smaller sections.  We are in that 50+ age group and working over our heads was getting rough!

no.  husband is a carpenter and doesn't like the quality of woods from HD or Lowes type stores.  he swears they get seconds.  shoddy merchandise says he.   anyway, we go thru a local lumber yard to order.

...yes...you've got some hours in for that...we used luan/lauan/lohan? on the ceiling and thought we would just paint white...but thinking about stain/seal...what a nice material...birch...thru Home depot?

not original.  complete re-build.  we used birch luan w/ polyurethane seal.  i love the look
