Hi Dana, I'm new to this group and have an old 5th wheel my sister and I camp with. Talk about low budget....but it is fun. I'm a Missouri native, but been in Texas and retired here. Just the last few years getting confident about RV travel. You name it, we two sisters have stepped in it....we didn't know much and we learn more every time we venture out. Our RV fixer upper has really been challenging so when I read you had a 73 Shasta, well....I had to assume you and your husband were dedicated as well, to affordable camping. Anyway, I'm presently finishing up roof repairs, new vents on top of roof and we are installing a portable air conditioner, as this RV never had one in the first place. It's intolerable down in the south without one. I'm getting brave enough to start cutting holes for the venting of the hot air out of the camper that comes from the air conditioner. We'd priced having a roof one installed and it was prohibitive, plus, you'd never see any returns on it financially. So we bought a small Black and Decker AC on rollers and it's perfect. Anyway, didn't mean to get chatty here, but boy these old campers have a lot of work to them, but if you persevere, I often think they are better constructed than newer ones. Cheers, alice
