Is that "FIFI"? in the pic that was restored and had her flight a couple of years ago? Scary to think that thousands of B-29's were built and now only one or two are still flying.
Jeff, you will find a great deal of honest and frank advice here on GORV's for anyone owning or looking to own an RV, camper or some such. I started out with a 40 yr old Class C and ran it 1200 miles before stranding my family in FL. Now we have a 30 yr old Class A that is in much better shape but still making sure everything is working before just jumping in with both feet! On here you can talk to 10 people and get 20 opinions on what to do but all comments are steeped in experience and honest in their delivery.
Jeff, since you seem to like older stuff (like the B-29) you may want to look at mid-80's RV's for your purchase. Even 90's RVs may not be so bad just be sure to look at the drivetrain and other mechanical issues. the RV troubles can be fixed directly (leaks, non-working plumbing, etc.) with some rudimentary knowledge on home renovations. The cost of new RV's is insane for anyone looking to get into it. I've always looked at buying knowing I'll have to do some work on the RV and deal with issues. Even "new" RV's have issues so I figure it's best to handle the older RV ones than a new one and fight the costly repairs of slide-outs, digital systems and all that.
