Tell us a little About Yourself
Love Vintage RV's especially GMC Motorhomes from 1973 to 1978. Camping with my partner Andy is what I like to do best.

"What is that thing"

I Kinda stumbled up on these GMCS. I have a friend in Los Angeles who is into rving and had at the time a Class A Airstream Land Yacht. I think it was an 86 or 89. I went with him to take a look at it at the storage facility about 8 years ago and sitting nearby was a GMC with deflated air bags. It was rusted out and sitting on the ground. Looked awful. I asked Mark "what is that thing?". He said "Oh, that's a GMC, there's a whole lot of people into those, kinda like the Airstream.". That started it for me. I remember those from when I was a kid and had not seen one in years. I went home that night and started surfing the internet, looking at photos and dreaming about having my own GMC. A couple of years later I moved to Florida and was at a chick-fil-a and parked behind it was a broken down GMC. I went by it over and over for about 2 years when finally I called the owner and made an appointment to see it. Well, hardly anything worked on it and it was badly faded but it looked to me to have "good bones". No rust and no rotted out floors. Had most of the original interior still intact. I bought her, brought her home and started pulling my hair out trying to learn how to fix her back up. That's been about 3 years, much money and lots of smashed fingers ago and many times I thought of just giving up and getting something newer. But for some reason, I really love this old motorhome. I am a child of the late 70's early 80's, maybe a little stuck there, which makes this rv perfect for me.
