To tow or not to tow
8 Replies

I just bought a 2000 shasta 25 ft trailor, weight 4760 empty and could weigh 6200 loaded and I want to tow it with my 2006 jeep Grand Cherokee with 4.7 lit. V8. I read the owners manual and it says…Continue

I am a retired diesel mechanic/truck driver, my wife and I are not new to RVing but don't own a RV at this time. We are looking but have not found what we are looking for yet, we have lived in Indiana for 11 years and have not camped here, but will soon.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the welcome! After a couple of months of searching online I've pretty much come to the conclusion that what I want doesn't exist. I've been thinking if I could find a vintage trailer with damage on either end of a side panel I could "trim" it off and shorten the camper without defiling a perfectly good vintage trailer. LOL

The other reason I'm thinking of starting from scratch is because I'm a member of TechShop which is like having a gym membership but instead of exercise equipment everything is industrial arts machinery from a wood shop to welding to industrial sewing machines, laser cutters, a water jet and everything in between. Many of the machines are CNC meaning I can design elements on my computer and let the machines do the work for me!

I'm doing a ton of research ahead of beginning a build though so that I know I'm building exactly what I want and need. I've learned so much already by reading a bunch of forums but this is the first one I've joined.

Thanks again for reaching out. Looking forward to keeping in touch.
