Gas Lines

Just got back from my local rv shop having my gas lines checked and tested. Good thing I tech said I had an explosion waiting to happen! He replaced the connections on the main pipe where all connections fit into. then he refit and sealed all of the connections. My camper was leaking at every connection from the tanks to the stove...and all in between. Can we say BOOM!!!

Now we can use the stove as well as the gas lamp whenever we finally get to go out on the maiden voyage.

Hi!. Sounds like everything is in great shape. I'd still have the bearings checked and greased; any good run of the mill service center can do it, even Sears.

I'd inquire locally about who the go to transmission shop is in your area and get a quote from them on installing a good aftermarket tranny cooler; wayyy cheaper than a new automatic tranny. Oops, maybe you have a manual transmission?? in which case you normally don't need a tranny cooler (sorry, didn't think about that!)
If it is an automatic I'd let them insall it. I've lost, can you believe, 3 transmissions in 4 years and i only tow very occassionally a little aluminum boat... that's about nine grand in trannys in my various classA's, bus and c's...

Looking forward to watching your restoration!

Welcome Sandy & Chris! Sure looks like a nice travel trailer. I like the custom Air conditioner and the way it's mounted. No worries about loosing it goin down the road.
Things I've learned when switching to a travel trailer are:
Make sure the tow vehicle is in good shape, particularly the tires (are they rated for the hitch weight) the cooling system and a transmission cooler is a must have... easy to add one. Then you definately need towing mirrors. I like the slip on type that fit over existing mirrors. It's saved us lots of accidents.
How are the tires, bearings and brakes-if any, on the trailer? It's pretty cheap insurance to have bearing packed and tires and brakes inspected. If the tires are over 4 years old, replace them! Don't take chances. Do you have a spare tire and a jack that will lift up the trailer if you need to change tires? I carry a 4X4 so I can use my SUV's jack to lift my travel trailer. Saves the weight of carrying 2 jacks.
How's the batter on the trailer? Usually batteries are old and have way to few amp hours and people are way surprised when the lights dime dry camping after only a nights use. I've gone to a nice 80 am deep cycle marine/rv battery which keeps us going for about 3 days of heavy use.

Hope this helps and sure like your trailer!

welcome to good old rvs!
