Greetings and welcome to GORVs, I see you are questioning the chevy 454 in your 1982 Southwind. We have a 1987 Southwind with the 454 and have had no problems with the engine, it is a powerhouse on the level and will pull passes with a toad--not fast, but I just down shift into 2nd and we go at what ever speed it will maintain. Sometimes I pass truckers and sometimes they pass me, but getting there is half the fun so we are never in any hurry. If you have any specific questions just post them, there are lots of people on here who have the chevy chassis and they will gladly offer their advise and experience.
