We attended our 1st vintage trailer rally last weekend at River Bend campground in Sweet Home, Or. And actually the 1st outing for our '63 Santa Fe. What a great time we had. We saw some beautiful trailers and met some beautiful people. The members of the Rollin' Oldies Vintage Trailer group are fantastic. i am definitely a vintage trailer junkie now. Hope everyone has a great summer!

Just got back from my local rv shop having my gas lines checked and tested. Good thing I did..my tech said I had an explosion waiting to happen! He replaced the connections on the main pipe where all connections fit into. then he refit and sealed all of the connections. My camper was leaking at every connection from the tanks to the stove...and all in between. Can we say BOOM!!!
Now we can use the stove as well as the gas lamp whenever we finally get to go out on the maiden voyage.

We are buying all the important things for the RV... need suggestions for the following:
* Generator (I think Pat answered this one already!)
* Sewer Kits
* Toilets (we have an Aqua-Magic III that came with the camper and it works fine and I'd rather not have to replace, but the idea of a seat that's been used by strangers for 32 years is a bit weird!) althought it might not be the original toilet.
* Tool Sets for the Road
* Gas… Continue

Hi All. We just bought out first RV - a 1977 Prowler. We want to re-do the inside keeping it very 70s and one of the things we want to do is change the existing formica countertops. Does anyone have any experience with that? Any tips, advice, suggestions??? We're read that you can take the existing formica off (peel it using lacquer and a putty knife), sand down the surface to remove any adhesive, then get a formica kit and reface the countertops. Good? Bad? We'd like to see if anyone has done… Continue

HEY HEY, IT IS THAT TIME OF YEAR. TIME TO HIT THE ROAD AND MAKE SOME MEMORIES. GAS IS OVER A DOLLAR CHEAPER THAN LAST YEAR. DONT FORGET YOUR CAMERA, THEN POST SOME PICS AND SHARE SOME STORY. I FOUND THE BEST WAY TO HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED IN YOUR R-V, IS TO SORT OF MOVE INTO IT A FEW DAYS BEFORE YOU LEAVE HOME. YOU SLOWLY BRING WHAT YOU NEED AND FIGURE OUT WHERE TO STORE IT ALL. THIS ALSO IS A GOOD WAY TO TEST THINGS. HAVE A GREAT TIME.
P.S. YOU SINGLE LADIES THAT WANT TO RIDE ON THE BACK… Continue

The first thing an old tired bus needs is a new motor, not only for reliability but let’s face it I need more power Scotty!!! I don’t speak the VW language yet, I know enough V8 language to be dangerous, and barely know how to turn one on...Wait this is sounding familiar. Let’s just say I now have a whole new respect for people when they come into my computer repair office and tell me “I need more storage ram to speed up my hard drive, and my cpu is full , what do I need to fix it?” Then they… Continue

While on a National Parks vacation last year we saw old VW buses everywhere and they all looked like they were stuck in a time warp, back to a simpler time when camping just meant being outdoors and spending time by a campfire with the family.
Our old bus rolled off the assembly line in 1969… There was No personal computer, No WWW Internet, No Video Games, No Cell Phones, Not a single “luxury”…Basically to me what it might have been like going camping with the Skipper on Gilligan’s… Continue

my, 14 month older then i, brother 'stark' and i grew up, probbaly beginning at ages 5 and 6, just sitting for hours w/ our pencils, rulers, and crayons drawing these radical rigs, with matching colors, boats, trailers, jeeps, trucks, campers, you name it! we'd spend hours on end drawing, dreaming and staying out of our mom's way, creating our futures on paper. when i found this picture it made me wonder...just like listening to the beach boys all my… Continue

Boy am I tired! I had a real fun weekend in the Anza Borrego Desert, lots of good friends, lots of good food, lots of alchohol....
This was the 'After Tax' weekend, and Mother Nature took real nice care of us. The temps were great, wind was low, and a good time was had by all. I made my first (and not last) "Bacon Explosion" and it was an absoloute success. Taste was delicious, and everyone had some. There was no left-overs!… Continue

HI THERE. I am a new member. I just posted a couple pictures of my 1971 STARCRAFT STARCRUISER. I had never seen one till I got it. Does anyone have or know about this??? My home shows as PAHRUMP, NEVADA. Never heard of it? Well... LAS VEGAS is our largest suburb.
I would like to hear from anyone, about your oldie, about You, surprise. Can I post ads for parts or needed parts somewhere? Anyone going to Death Valley for spring flowers? Wanna see the new bridge at Hoover Dam? THANKS FRANK

There is an RV dealer in Alva, Florida at 6345 State Road 80 it's about 10 miles west of the town of LaBelle. They won't rake you over the coals for parts and service. They will drop what they are doing for a vacationing family to do what they can for you. And are glad to share knowledge to the do it your self type, and if your an RV'er that's normal.
I retired from there last year but still go in to consult (for free I might add) if a real nightmare shows up (I liked nightmares) They are… Continue
