RV Service in Alva, Florida

There is an RV dealer in Alva, Florida at 6345 State Road 80 it's about 10 miles west of the town of LaBelle. They won't rake you over the coals for parts and service. They will drop what they are doing for a vacationing family to do what they can for you. And are glad to share knowledge to the do it your self type, and if your an RV'er that's normal.

I retired from there last year but still go in to consult (for free I might add) if a real nightmare shows up (I liked nightmares) They are… Continue

Help! I need siding for my shasta!

I just purchased a vintage 1966 shasta. I drove all the way to Prescott, AZ to pick the trailer up. Once I got there I found the exterior of the trailer to be a little more damaged than I expected. I went ahead and purchased the trailer because the interior was so great. I need help on finding someone to restore the exterior aluminum siding or finding the siding to replace myself....

Any suggestions would be great!

Snowbirding To Florida, RV Misadventures of Pat, Linda & Lady Dog

Well, it's 11 degrees including wind chill at the Cabin so we're leavin for the sunny isles of Florida. One of the first things I always do is a complete walkaround of the travel trailer and my trusty old GMC Yukon. I always check the tires carefully, particularly the Korean tires on the travel trailer. I'm a made in USA kinda guy, I guess. Found travel trailer tires at 42 pounds, 38 pounds, 46psi, and 45psi. Should be 50psi all around cold says the… Continue

Thanksgiving Family Camping 2008, Much to be thankful for.

Wow. We decided to bail on the traditional Thanksgiving this year spent with all the family and go camping. The traditional TG's with us are historically great, lots of family and lots of food, we just wanted a change this year. Check out this place.... A friggin mazing. We had a spectacular time and I cant say enough about the Lilac Oaks Campground. Simple as it may be, there's a game room, club house and all what you may need (laundry/showers etc) but theres no 'store' so bring all you need… Continue

so, i have a 2006 jeep wrangler unlimted and am in the market for a small [8 -12'] vintage travel trailer [cardinal, shasta, jet, caveman or kenskill?]. it occurs to me how low many of these trailers are to the ground. i've had pop up tent trailers in the past and they work okay off roading...nothing major, just to out back rural camping spots. does anyone have any… Continue

Need Help on Load Leveler Hitch Chain Adjustment for Travel Trailer

I've got a queastion about my new load leveler hitch bars. How do I tell how many chain links to tighten up to equalize my hitch and trailer? I'm doing 2nd chain length and it seem ok and pulls very well, but my friend said he thought that it was too tight and seemed that the back of my suv yukon was being pulled up. Any ideas? How tight is too tight and how loose is too loose?

Thanks for helping me figure this out! Pat

Air Bag Adventure

Ok so we had a real big adventure with some air bags...

My neighbor across the street brought over a set of Air Lift suspension bags and brackets of a Chevy S-10. Knowing I was looking for air bags, he gave me these hoping I could use them. A few phone calls to Air Lift and I found out the air bags were the same as the ones for my Titan, only the upper brackets were different. The bottom brackets were also the same! I bought the brackets and was in for $28 for a set of air bags for… Continue

First trip for the camper

Ok so I did 3 campgrounds on three separate weekends when we bought the camper, and I have reservations for Thanksgiving weekend at a nice campground locally, but this weekend were going to Ocotillo Wells, Homes Camp. This is a 'dry' location within a few miles of a RV/Mobile home park.

This will be the first trip of the campers true purpose, shelter and comfort for when I take my son (eventually sons) out with the ATV's Dirtbikes or the Dune Buggy. Men, horsepower, high octane fuel,… Continue
