New Years Resolution

Well Pat, I didn't really celebrate New Years, but I did finish a project that I had put off for several months!  I posted a while back about going to drain a full black water tank and having the push/pull rod break.  I finally fixed the rod and caulked the slide valve together so it doesn't leak.  A further part of the plan was to thoroughly clean my 1970 toilet.  I…

Rear View

George (Ms. Toiga and George) had two minor accidents recently due to the poor rear view provisions inherent in most RVs.  Many RVs have rear view cameras now, and the prices have come way down on these, but I wonder if there could be something better?  In the early 1970s there was talk of rear view periscopes!  With the right array, one could have rear viewing comparable to front vision all in one place, instead of drivers, passengers, center, and many times blind spot mirrors.  Has any…

Fuse protection for inverters

I just read where someone paid $200.00 for a 200 Amp fuse between their battery and their inverter.  Look on E Bay under car amplifier circuit breakers.  They can be reset instead of a one time thing and they are listed at under $10.00.  At that price it would be prudent to use them at all battery feeds!

Registering a vehicle

Hi,

I have been living in my 1977 Travel Queen RV in Yalaguina, Nicaragua for about a year.  Last week I received my residency card as a pensionado in Nicaragua.  This has taken the full year to obtain, now I'm good for five years, instead of having to cross the border and return every 90 days.  That's the good news, the bad news is that my VW dune buggy has been confiscated twice and now is hidden in the woods so it doesn't get taken permanently.  I had hired an agent to do the work…

Dump Valve Disaster!

When I went to dump my black water tank yesterday it seemed to operate much easier than usual.  Then I figured out that the push/pull rod had disconnected from the slide valve inside the plastic housing.  The thought of forty gallons of ___ spilled under my RV made me stop and "analyze" the situation.  After much consideration, I came up with a plan, and I'm very happy to say that it worked!  I thought that I would post this and possibly save someone else from the "Black Water…
